Quoting the 80s

The 80s is quite possibly my all time favourite film period. My favourite film is an 80s flick and several other favourites of mine come from that same timeframe as well. One thing I've noticed repetitively is that some quotes hold the same powerful meaning as they did thirty years ago. Plus the fact that I don't think I can have a conversation with most people without referencing The Breakfast Club or any other John Hughes classic.

I could waffle on for an entire page before you guys actually started on the quotes so before my excitement is thrown all over this page, I'll begin with the quotes that I've always loved from these films. Some aren't deep and some are, it's really just about what was most memorable for me, whether it taught me something or whether I just fell madly in love!

The Breakfast Club

'Well, if you say you haven't, you're a prude. If you say you have you're a slut. It's a trap. You want to but you can't and when you do you wish you didn't, right?'

'Do you think I'd speak for you? I don't even know your language.'

'We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are better at hiding it, that's all.'

Sixteen Candles

'I want a serious girlfriend. Somebody I can love, that's gonna love me back. Is that psycho?'

'That's why they call them crushes. If they were easy they'd call 'em something else.'

'If all you want from the girl is a piece of ass, I mean, I'll either do it myself, or get someone bigger than me to kick your ass.'

Say Anything

'One question: are you here 'cause you need someone, or 'cause you need me?'

'No one thinks it will work, do they?
No. You just described every great success story.'

Pretty in Pink

'You couldn't buy her, though, that's what's killing you, isn't it? That's it, Stef. She thinks you're shit. And deep down, you know she's right.'

'You like him, he likes you. What his friends think shouldn't make a difference.'

Some Kind of Wonderful

'Can you deliver the kiss that kills?'

'You look good wearing my future.'

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

'Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.'

Dirty Dancing

'Nobody puts baby in a corner.'

'I carried a watermelon?!'

'Look, spaghetti arms. This is my dance space. This is your dance space. You don't go into mine, I don't go into yours.'

The Princess Bride

'As you wish.'

Secret Admirer

'Me? Oh, I have no standards, I'd even go out with you.'

'When I look at you I can't take my eyes off you and when you look at me I have to turn away.'

'xxxoooxxx'

What's your favourite 80s quote?
